Types of Funds

Unrestricted Funds

Unrestricted gifts give the Mansfield Foundation the greatest flexibility to address emerging issues because donors place no restriction on how these funds are to be used. In creating unrestricted funds, donors create a legacy that grows and changes as the needs addressed by the Foundation change.

Permanent Funds

Permanent Funds are invested, and only income is made available for scholarships and grantmaking. The principal is not spent but retained for growth of the fund.

Agency Endowment Fund

An Agency Endowment Fund is created by a charitable organization to provide a stream of revenue to ensure the future of their work and mission. Through an Agency Endowment Fund in the Community Foundation, the nonprofit is assured that its endowment will receive prudent stewardship while providing a lasting source of income.

Designated Fund

A Designated Fund may be established by a donor or an organization to benefit one or more specific charities, ensuring continuous gifts to their favorite charitable organization and perpetuating their charitable goals.

Scholarship Fund

A Scholarship Fund can be established by businesses, families, alumni, or individuals to help deserving students achieve their educational or professional goals and opportunities. Donors can contribute to existing funds or start new ones using eligibility requirements important to the donor and even participate in the selection process with the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee. Scholarship Funds are often used to honor or memorialize a loved one by reflecting their particular interests. Scholarship funds can either be permanently endowed (only the earned income is distributed) or established as a non-endowed annual scholarship fund (entire fund is available for distribution.)

Foundation Operating Fund

The Mansfield Foundation Operating Fund enables the Foundation to meet the needs of donors and the community by enlisting staff, supporting the facility, and providing resources to help meet the needs of our constituents.

Pledges

Pledges enable a donor to plan a personal giving program that is both convenient and tax-wise. A pledge may enable a donor to consider a more significant gift than would have otherwise been possible. Terms for payment on pledges are flexible and at the option of the donor.
