Our Story

A Legacy of Giving and Trust Since 1974

The Mansfield Foundation was established in May 1974 to raise, manage, and provide support for educational programs, scholarships, and research opportunities in the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. The Foundation began to offer a Scholarship Program for students attending Mansfield University and awarded its first scholarships in the 1976-77 academic year.

Although the details have changed over time, the Mansfield Foundation remains proudly bound to the vision of its founding Board of Directors of supporting students in their higher education goals. Firmly rooted in our belief that higher education is a catalyst for change for individuals, families, and our communities, we envision a future that recognizes that individuals both need and deserve an education beyond high school and work to assure educational opportunities are accessible to all regardless of economic circumstances.

While the Foundation continues to administer a robust scholarship program, primarily for students attending Mansfield University, the Foundation, responding to the changing nature of higher education, continues to expand, offering a range of opportunities for individuals throughout the Northern Tier, while also supporting and strengthening our region, further enhancing opportunities for students, families, and the communities that support them.

The Foundation has a long history of supporting the communities in which we live and work. Expanding on our focus areas strengthens our ability to make a long-term and sustainable impact in the lives of so many. Over the last forty-seven years, together we have made remarkable achievements and together we can achieve so much more. Get Involved.
