But knowing in advance about your gift can help us honor you as well as provide us with an opportunity to clarify any questions we have about how you want your gift to have an impact as well as capture and preserve your donor legacy story by making sure we record your story and collect photographs of you.
As a founding member of the Mansfield Foundation Board of Directors, Dr. Marcella Hyde-Smith often explained to anyone willing to listen that “by looking at our past, while concurrently considering the present, the future could be bright and self-sustaining.” Marcella was always concerned about enrollment at colleges and a student’s access to a college education. As such, she helped to spearhead the establishment of the Mansfield Foundation in 1974 because she understood that having a Foundation that could raise money to offer scholarships to prospective students would help keep them enrolled in college and achieve their educational goals. As a life-long educator and active volunteer in her community, Marcella understood the transformative power of an education and its impact on the lives of students, their families, and their communities.
Her understanding of the past cemented our future, and we remain committed to the ideals of our early visionaries and are proud of the transformative role the Mansfield Foundation plays in both student and community success.
